I know exactly what you mean!

..."of the day"?

I openly admit am slowly being drawn towards atheism, despite being sorrounded by believers...the worst they can do is pray for souls.

After living in Tennessee for 4 years, I found that some of the most intolerant and judgemental people were religious. I am not saying that all religous people are, just drawing from my past experience.

Guess its a common habit with people who are involved in any kind of sect because they become brainwashed and tend not to think for themselves but as per how the set doctrines dictates.

I agree. I think it has some corelation to an inability to adequately epathize with others for most people - Christians and non Christians alike. What must happen is something like: I am happier like this. You are not like this; therefore you are not as happy.

Also, am I the only atheist out there who feels like the god I dont believe in is a better god than that who Christians believe in?

Hah...I agree.

I am tired of people who ask me, "Have you found god?" - I didn't know he was lost.., or ask, "What would Jesus do.."

I had a conversation with my wife's uncle, he's a minister in TN. We were talking about the Mel Gibson movie at first, then I asked if he thought it was a far representation of events. He said it was the closest thing to being there. How would he know, he's basing his opinion on a book rewritten so many times.

He then went on to say, if not for Jesus, there would be no laws. Which I questioned because I believe the Romans and Greeks did pretty well on their own before he came along. Finally, I asked, should we take the Bible literally. He replied yes. So when I said that his son should be stoned for having long hair, that I was going to sell my daughter into slavery and that we all commited a sin for eating shrimp, he said well not all of it should be taken literally...isn't that like having your cake and eating it too? You can't say literal and then say pick and choose, the two don't coexist.

Sorry for the rant :)

The thing is, at least on my part...at the end of the day happiness is all that counts. The faith that believers posses can only take them so far because in everything we do in life we always expect success or failure thats for a fact. But for the believers if it fails, god is still working on it, if it succeeds its because of him. The bible was written by a human being ...i always think its someone who was toying with a certain idea and came up with the notion of Mary...and the miraculous conception...more like what all the great people discovered like the X-ray, Force of Gravity, just to mention but a few...if asked ad say its all crap!

Damn all those hippie Christians. Throw 'em in a lion's den!

A Christian would never think you were a worse person for not believing in God.
